A 1999 calendar celebrating the indigenous heritage and sexuality of gay men and sistagirls (transgendered people) will be released tomorrow night.

The calendar, Proud, has been produced by the Australian Federation of AIDS Organisations (AFAO) to promote self esteem and sexual health of indigenous gay men and sistagirls through stories, images and referral information.

AFAO Indigenous Gay and Transgender Sistagirl Steering Committee convenor Robert Smith said the calendar was a "significant step forward in collaboration between AFAO and the indigenous gay men and sistagirl communities … its presence on people’s walls will be a year-long reminder of the importance of indigenous sexual health."

The calendar will be launched on Friday 18th December 1998 at Corroborree 8 at the Imperial Hotel, Erskineville from 8pm.
